 R.E.M. ADDS EUROPEAN FESTIVAL DATES TO '08 TOUR
R.E.M. has added seven European festival dates to their 2008 tour in support of ACCELERATE, set for release on April 1st.
The festival dates are as follows:
JULY
3rd: Belgium--Werchter Festival
5th: Spain--Bilbao Live ’08 Festival
6th: Spain--Doctor Loft 05.00 Festival, Castello d’Empuries,
(North Barcelona)
8th: France--Le Nuits de Fourvieres (Theatre Antique), Lyon
12th: Ireland--Oxegen, Dublin
13th: UK--T In The Park, Glasgow
AUGUST
16th: Hungary--Sziget Festival, Budapest

 R.E.M. open-sources its music videos: The future of content?
R.E.M. might have goofy lyrics at times ("you're drifting off to sleep with your teeth in your mouth") but it has broken interesting new ground with its decision to open-source 11 videos for a new song from its new album. R.E.M. will be releasing the videos under the Artistic License, appropriately enough.
Viewers are encouraged to remix the videos and share them on the song's YouTube page. |

 SUPERNATURAL SUPERSERIOUS VIDEO SITE LAUNCHED
During the last week of January, R.E.M. spent several days in New York where they filmed a video for Supernatural Superserious, the first single from ACCELERATE. The video was shot by director Vincent Moon (ninetynights.com) who captured the band spontaneously performing the song in various locations around the city. In a joint effort, Vincent and the band have launched a web site for Supernatural Superserious which offers visitors a truly unique opportunity to download all 10 takes of the video in High Definition and edit their own version of the video. Please be patient: this site is really heavy on the bandwidth.
A YouTube page has been set up for everyone to post their efforts. |

 R.E.M. 2008 EUROPEAN TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT
R.E.M. will kick off their 2008 European Tour in support of Accelerate in July in Amsterdam. The tour will be preceded by a special engagement at the Royal Albert Hall in London, one week prior to the release of Accelerate, on March 24th.
The band previously announced North American dates which you can view here.
More dates, notably European festivals and R.E.M. dates in the U.K., will follow soon, so please stay tuned. |
